SECTION 04:
An Alternative to Futility?

If nothing that we have said so far makes any sense at all to an unredeemed mind, would you at least consider the historic claims of Jesus the Lord's Annointed Christ?

JUDEO-CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE

"En archa an ho Logos, kai ho Logos an pros ton THEON, kai THEOS an ho Logos." John 1:1

As the arrow at left demonstrates, we are talking about Revelation History, whereby the Triune God of Creation makes His perfect will known.

To the Hebrews: "I AM" was His Name

The Lord God Creator of the universe laid His glory by and came down to earth to reveal Himself, His love and His mercy before those whom He was and still is calling to Himself. Those who were opposed to Heaven's representative crucified Him on the tree. Yet, the grave and Hades could not hold Him, and He arose from the dead and ascended into Heaven - from there to rule His Spiritual Kingdom until the end of time.

Cultural significance: While it took almost one and a half millinnia for the Gospel to penetrate the Western World, by the year 1500 Anno Domini, the ground work was laid for the Protestant Reformation which changed forever how princes and people related to their nations, economies and each other.

Certainly, very much was accomplished by the Roman administration of the Church over the course of time. However - like all imperfect earthly institutions, by the late Middle Ages much personal corruption and even distortion of the sacred texts had crept into the day by day witness of that Church administration and within God's providence the church was REFORMED through the work of Martin Luther, John Calvin and many others.

Cultural dominance: For most of that 1,000 years, the Church had remained the one undivided constant force. An imperfect force as it always remains, but the language of that time was the Latin language of the church and within the bounds of Europe even a bond of "Christian Chivalry" was held up as a limitation on the worst aspects of conflict, war and conquest. The architectral, painted, sculpted, musical and literary arts flourished under the sponsorship of the church. The whole calendar system was centered upon the birth year of Jesus Christ. The first universities were established, yet more dramatic changes were to come about.
 The Heart of Western Civilization:
Roger B Taney
As the Reformers dearly strived to "make every thought captive to the word of God" and to "seek first the kingdom of heaven" other cultural blessings flowed from that spiritual foundation.

Representative Democracy, Rule by Law and Capitalism developed in spite of much opposition amid a series of religious and political conflicts. These three systems of practice have not developed and prospered together outside of the Reformed areas of the world.

Lex Rex

REX LEX

"Lex" means law in Latin.

"Rex" means king in Latin.

Thus "Lex Rex" means that the Law is king, while "Rex Lex" implies that the King is law.
